Hi everyone. It's Thanh. I've been in and out of the loop for so long that I don't even know if anyone still remember me! lol. Well, This semester is the first semester of my junior year at Mason. Having no choice, I have to take english 302 (extensive writing. Yuck). One of the topics that i got so far is to write about 3 people or events that influenced your career goal. Without hesistance, Dave came to be one of the 2 people that i wrote about. I'm sure you guys would do the same thing to *wink* - who wouldn't love Dave? Ok, here is my essay that I want to share with you all.

Big heart
A few summers ago I had the opportunity to meet a young entrepreneur; Mr. Dave Nguyen. He had a vision on how to unite young Asian American together and voice out their concerns, which was the beginning of a collaboration of service which later grew into a Non Profit Organization, where young Asian American came together in helping each other. This later grew into a leadership program that inspire young individual to take ownerships of their goals. Based on the overall structure, I felt this program was something I would be proud to be part of. After joining the organization I met 20 spectacular individual that has help me grow as a person. The organization motivates individuals through project and extensive activities where it molds individuals’ skills that we tend to stray away from.
Dave has inspired me in many ways and also helped me understand that if you have a big heart you can accomplish anything. A good example is Mr. Dave himself; despite the fact that he works full-time, in his free time he built this non-profit organization. This made me feel that he had a lot heart and dedication. The greatest thing that I admire is that he still could find time to care for and mentor student member individually. To me, Dave is an important person not only because he cares about me, but also he helps me to realize my actual interests and goals. Through several discussions that we had about diseases, Dave has enlightened me on the Human Body infrastructure over chemistry. However, with my insistence on the love for chemistry, Dave has open doors for me by introducing me to several chemists. He wanted to give me the opportunities to explore all the possible careers paths base from my major (Chemistry). At the same time, Dave encouraged me to explore the fields of biology. On several occasion Dave invited me to a few tours of several prestigious genomic-research institutes. With that, he gradually brought doubts in me about my major. More than that, He even spent time helping me visualize the possible plan for my undergrad education. Because of Dave, I gain more confidence and I feel I am ready to start the journey of life.
